amsterdam&partners celebrates 750 years of Amsterdam with a series of special events: 24 hours of Amsterdam. On Saturday, March 22, it is Centrum's turn! Various locations in the Centrum are opening their doors and there are numerous free activities, some of which are organized especially for Amsterdam 750. From singing real Amsterdam tearjerkes to looking at and creating art – in this article we share some highlights!
‘Geef mij maar Amsterdam’, ‘Ach vaderlief’ en ‘Bim bam (O mooie Westertoren)’: Do you know your classics? Then indulge yourself during the walk-in singing workshop of the Amsterdamse Smartlappenkoor. Come listen and sing along, even if you don't have a golden throat! Everyone is welcome between 16:00 and 18:00.
Visit the street art exhibition '750', look at talented artists and participate yourself. Art, music and nightlife: they all come together during the party '750 After Dark'. Party all night long with art'otel & Amsterdam Street Art at 750 After Dark! The exhibition can be visited for free between 11:00 and 23:00. The party is free to visit from 7:00 to 13:00.
The exhibition 'Moroccan in Mokum' is about the Moroccan community in the city: past, present and future. Migration, family reunification and the fight for equality: it is all discussed. In videos, famous Moroccan Amsterdammers talk about their bond with the city. There is also a lecture. Everyone is welcome between 13:00 and 16:00.
Take a tour of the beautiful old building of the artists' association Arti et Amicitiae. Also nice: Alex Fischer's exhibition. He makes prints of manhole covers all over the world. And he designed a manhole cover for Amsterdam's 750th anniversary. You can also make a print yourself. Everyone is welcome between 12:00 and 17:00.
Experience how the four statues Wisdom, Justice, Temperance and Vigilance come to life! Amsterdam residents and ambassadors of Beeldenstorm share their vision of the city through the eyes of these images. With performances by rapper Sarah-Lee and poet Marlou Avontuur, and the challenge of making a creative work yourself. The workshop is from 16:30 to 17:30.
