A forest... Op De Ring!

09 April 2025

During the Op de Ring festival, part of the A10 is transformed into… a forest for one day! A temporary forest with 750 large trees that the city received as a gift from 14 donors, and another 7,500 small trees from De Gezonde Stad.

For a Green Future

In the place where cars usually zoom by, people of all ages in Amsterdam can spend one day getting inspired and recharging at the Bos Op de Ring (Forest on the Ring). This way, everyone can discover how beneficial a forest can be. The forest is a unique place with a clear message: Amsterdam can and must become greener.

But it doesn’t stop after just one day. All the trees from the Bos Op de Ring will have a permanent spot in and around the city. And that’s not all: an additional 75,000 trees will be planted in the region. This is how the forest continues to grow. For cleaner air. For more shade. For a pleasant, healthy future.

750 Trees as a Gift to the City

Last year, it was announced that a group of Amsterdam-based foundations and companies would donate 750 trees to the city in honor of Amsterdam’s 750th anniversary. The trees will first be displayed during the Op de Ring festival. Afterward, they will be planted permanently throughout the city. These trees contribute to the city’s greening and create a sustainable legacy that future generations will benefit from.

This was made possible by a donation of €2.6 million, collected from 14 different donors: Ribbink Van den Hoek Familiestichting, The Brook Foundation, Stichting Tanka, Rubens Capital, Rituals, Stichting Turing Foundation, Construct Invest, Dura Vermeer, Pinnacle, Stichting Van Oostrom Foundation, Stichting Phoenix Foundation, Stichting MCI, Stichting Hartwig Foundation, and Heineken (as part of an existing sponsorship package).
