Especially for Amsterdam 750, the Amsterdam Light Festival organized a special canal cruise on Monday evening, January 6, for 75 of the city's 'beacons of light.' These extraordinary Amsterdammers, who contribute to the city and its residents in unique ways, enjoyed an exclusive cruise showcasing the light installations of the Amsterdam Light Festival.
The canal cruise was part of the Nominate a Lightpoint campaign, launched in October by the Amsterdam Light Festival in celebration of Amsterdam’s 750th jubilee. Through this initiative, residents could nominate someone who, in their eyes, makes the city a better place. Over 130 nominations were submitted, each one an inspiring story about Amsterdam residents who dedicate themselves wholeheartedly to the city.

These lightpoints demonstrate how Amsterdammers continue to support each other and their city, even in challenging times.
On January 6th, the Lightpoints, along with a guest of their choice, boarded the canal boats of Amsterdam Circle Line. During the cruise, they passed by the stunning light art installations of the Amsterdam Light Festival. Festival guides shared stories about the artworks, while the guests enjoyed drinks and traditional Dutch bitterballen.
The evening was made possible by the generous support of Amsterdam Circle Line, which provided the boats and catering free of charge. It turned into a festive and heartwarming night, celebrating the Amsterdammers who contribute so much to their city.
