We're counting down! Three more months and then the time has come. On June 21 - the longest day of the year - we celebrate Amsterdam's 750th anniversary on the 15 kilometer car-free A10 ring road. Behind the scenes we are working hard on preparations. Every 21st of the month we bring you the latest news about the Op de Ring festival.
In this article we will give you a few more glimpses of the program. Dancing, singing, discovering the latest fashion trends and meeting fellow Amsterdam residents while enjoying a snack and drink, it will all be possible on the Ring. We also share a call for volunteers and announce a new partner who will help make the festival possible.
And for those who already have June 21 in their diary; prepare for big crowds and come on foot or by bike. Public transport will be busier than normal.
A musical dance parade of floats, a DJ cargo bike and dance groups. All with their own programming and own style. With punk & rock, techno, Caribbean, urban & hip hop. The parade moves at walking pace over the A10 between the entrance ramp from the s106 to the s105 (parallel to the Rembrandt Park). Walk, dance and party!
Here you hear the voices of Amsterdam. Choirs perform all day long. How about the big hits of Guilty Pleasures, the infectious fun of Pop Choir Lust for Live, musical toppers of the Gay Men's Chorus Maneuver or rock and ballads of Mixed Up from Weesp.
Fashion from Mokum and far beyond. A 75-meter-long catwalk is the stage for several fashion shows of the Amsterdam Fashion Week in collaboration with Diversity Fashion Week, VDM Models, Colorful Goodies and Diversity Model Agency. More than 60 models show work from well-known Amsterdam brands and various designers and up-and-coming fashion talent. Expect a powerful fashion statement for diversity, inclusivity and representation of everything Amsterdam has to offer.
The best from all areas of the city. This neighborhood festival guarantees surprising encounters and special collaborations. Enjoy African dance, listen to world music, accordion or jazz, cook a new dish together, dance or just have a chat with another Amsterdammer. It's all possible here!
Volunteers are indispensable for the organization of this unique once-in-a-lifetime event. To ensure everything runs smoothly on and around the festival site, we are looking for enthusiastic volunteers for various roles. As an information desk employee, city host, host/hostess or accessibility host. Recognizable clothing and food and drinks will be provided during your shift. Are you interested? Register before April 16.
We welcome the largest ice cream company in the world and the city's new resident, The Magnum Ice Cream Company, as a partner of Amsterdam 750 and event partner of the Op de Ring festival. They will co-organize activities during the festival and will also make a social contribution. And of course an ice cream is also part of a party like this.
