With the anniversary year just around the corner, the public campaign was launched today, June 21. To prepare Amsterdammers for the anniversary year, this promotional campaign was kicked off with a festive celebration. The celebratory campaign posters are now visible throughout the city. At the kickoff event in the Beurs van Berlage, residents, initiators, and organizers were presented with the latest news about the preparations and highlights of the anniversary year.
On Saturday, June 21, 2025, a grand celebration will take place on the Ring. On the longest day of the year, we will celebrate Amsterdam’s 750th anniversary on the 15-kilometer car-free Ring A10. Producers and creative parties were invited to participate in a European tender for organizing the big event. Lead applicant Tribe Company, along with Backbone International, Kingcanary, Bee Agency, and Skills Crowd Management, presented the best plan.
Sietse Bakker: “These parties combine their extensive experience in both large-scale national public events and a strong Amsterdam network. This gives us great confidence in the collaboration. Together, we will create a unique celebration to be remembered.”
The anniversary year will be filled with 300 activities. From the grand Opening Concert at the Ziggo Dome to the authentic Amsterdam musical “Our Jordaan“. For the exhibition “Amsterdamse vrouwen – een ode” (Amsterdam Women – an ode), the Amsterdam Museum gathers tributes to both well-known and unknown Amsterdam women who have impacted the city’s life. Other activities such as the ‘largest street football tournament in Amsterdam’, ‘The Great Amsterdam Quiz‘, and the unique storytelling program “De Pleinen van Noord” (The Squares of North), all contributing to the festivities of the anniversary year.
Keep an eye on our agenda for announcements and new events.
In celebration of Amsterdam’s 750th anniversary, a lasting gift to the city will open at the Amsterdam Culture Village Westergas: an exhibition centered around a unique city model.
A collaboration of Amsterdam organizations, including the Amsterdam Museum, the Amsterdam Architecture Center ARCAM, the University of Amsterdam, and the City Archives, join forces to further develop this exhibition into a lasting gift for the city. Key historical and future changes will be depicted through video projections. The exhibition will open in June 2025.
