A unique highlight during Amsterdam 750: for the first time you can go on the roof of De Nieuwe Kerk! From March 22 to November 2, 2025 you will have the chance to admire the city from above and see the restoration of the crossing tower up close.
The climb upwards starts in the 17th century stairwell of De Nieuwe Kerk. This staircase was once built for a tower of 115 meters high, which was never finished. You reach the platform on the roof via a temporary scaffolding staircase. Once at the top, you can view the restoration of the crossing tower up close and enjoy a panoramic view of Amsterdam. You will see iconic buildings such as the Westerkerk, the Royal Palace, Central Station and modern highlights such as the Zuidas and the A'DAM Tower. The 'Roof of the City' is open daily from Saturday, March 22 to Sunday, November 2, 2025 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
