Huge interest in Op de Ring festival, 280,000 tickets have been issued

21 May 2025

Today (Wednesday, May 21), starting from 10:00 AM, around 280,000 free tickets were ordered – the highest number ever for a one-day event in the Netherlands. The experienced producer of the Op de Ring festival is working for this complex and large-scale operation together with a major experienced Dutch ticketing provider with an office in Amsterdam.

There was a lot of interest in this event. That was expected, since public research showed that around 600,000 people would have liked to attend, while the capacity is for 280,000 people. This was the reason for working with free tickets. As a result, people often had to wait a long time, sometimes in vain. The disappointment is understandable. At the same time, making this number of tickets available for such a unique event site in many ways was an operation of unprecedented scale. In order to run this event safely and in a manageable way, ticketing was chosen. Better disappointment now than on the day of the event, when visitors are already on their way or trying in vain to enter the site.

An initial inventory shows that more than 70% of the tickets went to people living in Amsterdam. Of the remaining 30%, more than half went to people living around Amsterdam. The expected interest was more than fulfilled, but at the same time the ordering process did not go entirely smoothly. For example, a small number of website visitors were able to order more tickets than allowed; a problem that was quickly fixed. All orders are checked afterwards against the maximum number of tickets. If that number is too high, the order may be canceled and the tickets will become available again. Fraudulent parties are also offering tickets for sale. The organization advises people not to fall for this, as the risk of scams is high. Tickets for Op de Ring are free of charge. There were also reports from users who were placed back in the queue or received an error message from the ticket shop. The exact cause of this is not yet known and is being investigated further.

Tickets will be emailed one week before June 21 and can be downloaded from then on. At that time, orders can also be returned, for people who turn out to be unable to attend. Returned and reclaimed orders will be made available to the public again. People who were not able to order a ticket can sign up through opdering.nl. They will be kept informed. No tickets are required for zone East. After 4:00 PM, zone East will be open for a bike ride (via S113) or walk (via S109). No ticket is required for this. There is no access from zone East to A10 West and A10 South.
