On Saturday, June 21, 2025, we will celebrate the 750th jubilee of Amsterdam on the 15-kilometer car-free Ring A10. It will be a celebration in the most Amsterdam way possible. Therefore, we invite Amsterdam's cultural institutions, creative organizations, neighborhood and district associations, foundations, and sports clubs to organize activities that contribute to a surprising, festive, and diverse program.
It will be a festive day, organized for and by Amsterdammers and everyone who holds the city dear. The organization is still looking for activities in the areas of music, dance, food and drink, theater, sports, or art. These can be activities that surprise, bring people together, and are distinctly Amsterdam.
The Ring A10 is a unique location where events typically do not take place. This makes the festival extra special but also presents practical challenges. In some areas, the space is narrow, leaving little room for large objects like big stages or a soccer field. Additionally, there is limited time for setup and takedown. All of these factors should be considered when planning your activity. Furthermore, the event is intended to be freely accessible (meaning it should be free) and, in principle, everyone should be able to participate in the activity.
Neighborhood initiatives, creative organizations, sports clubs, and cultural institutions from the city can submit their activity by October 28 by emailing: opdering@750jaar.amsterdam.
Five Amsterdam-based event producers (Tribe Company, Kingcanary, BEE-Agency, Backbone International, and Skills Crowd Management) are collaborating with the municipality on this event. The producers are further developing the creative concept and determining what fits well in terms of programming and production. Input from the Voice of 750, research conducted among Amsterdam residents by O&S, and an advisory board comprising various Amsterdam citizens are all taken into account in this process.
There is no possibility for grants, but arrangements can be made to facilitate what is necessary for the practical implementation of the activity. It is also possible to seek sponsorship for your initiative in consultation with the producer.
On the evening of Friday, June 20, 2025, the Ring West, South, and East (between the exit to the A5 and the exit to the A1) will be closed after peak hours. This means there is only one night available for setting up the activities. On Saturday, June 21, the highway will be the place for celebrating visitors during the day and evening. On Sunday, we will dismantle and clean up. The Ring will reopen before the Monday morning rush hour.
