More information about the festival Op de Ring!

22 April 2025

We're counting down to the Op de Ring festival on Saturday 21 June! With just under two months to go, today we're giving you a new sneak peek of the programme.

What’s going to happen?

We previously announced that the festival will start with the 7.5 kilometer Run on the Ring with no less than 20,000 participants. Unfortunately, registration is no longer possible, the Run is completely sold out. There was also a lot of interest in Getting Married on the Ring. From almost 400 registrations, twenty couples were drawn who will say ‘I do’ to each other. There will be a temporary forest on the Ring with 750 large and 7,500 small trees. There will be plenty of music, with a parade of musical floats and performances by Amsterdam choirs & brass bands. There will be room for neighborhood activities and there will be a real catwalk where fashion by Amsterdam talent will be shown. And there’s more. Today we will announce the following components…

Music festival On the Ring

Not only Amsterdam, but also the largest music spectacle in the Netherlands is celebrating a special anniversary this year. The Music Festival on the Square by AVOTROS is celebrating its 20th anniversary and is joining in on Saturday 21 June with the Music Festival on the Ring. For once, part of the A10 will be transformed into a musical festival square with a selection of Dutch artists. "A big party in the middle of the highway, that has never been seen before. And we will probably never experience that again. So grab that opportunity!" – Jan Smit

Special & Social On the Ring

Here, thresholds are lowered so that everyone can join in. Dance with a sign language interpreter on a vibrating dance floor or relax in a low-stimulus corner full of natural sounds. This place is accessible to everyone. Because if you have fun together, the party is even more fun!

Open Stage on the Ring

Everywhere on the Ring you will find stages. On the Open Stage you will hear everything from pop to classical, blues, funk and rock ’n roll. Be surprised by what Amsterdam has to offer musically. Expect the soulful voice of SIMONE, the energy of De WiseFlower Band, and the party songs of Any Weird Stuff. A day full of musical surprises from singer-songwriters and bands from the city!

Sporty On the Ring

A 3x3 basketball challenge, street football, roller skating, free running, yoga, chess, kickboxing – sports on the A10? Absolutely. More than 15 Amsterdam sports clubs challenge you to participate. In the Rabobank Clubhouse you can discover everything about sports in your neighbourhood and meet Amsterdam sports heroes including Olympic basketball player Worthy de Jong. Everyone is welcome to participate in a unique anniversary challenge. In addition, you will meet your top sports idols there with Rabobank partner Team NL, such as Olympic hockey player Felice Albers. This part is made possible by Rabobank, main sponsor of Amsterdam 750 and the Op de Ring festival. "Sport brings people together, motivates them and encourages them to take action. With Sportief op de Ring we show the power of sports, from clubs to top sports, for all Amsterdammers. In this way we work together on a healthier and stronger city." - Erik Versnel, Director Rabobank Amsterdam.

About the festival On the Ring

On June 21st – the longest day of the year – we celebrate the 750th anniversary of Amsterdam on 15 kilometers of car-free Ring A10. It will be a real Amsterdam party, with music, sports, dance, art, food and drinks and much more. The entire program will be announced on May 21st. To make the event possible, a large part of the Ring A10 will be closed. This has major consequences for traffic in and around Amsterdam. Visitors to the festival are advised to come on foot, by bike or possibly by public transport as much as possible. Leave the car at home, there is no parking.
