The year 2025 kicks off fresh and festive in Amsterdam with a New Year's dive at Sloterplas. On January 1st, no fewer than 750 participants will brave the icy waters, a symbolic tribute to Amsterdam’s 750th jubileeyear. This New Year's dive is a collaboration between the Saints & Stars gym and the Sloterplas New Year's Dive, which is organizing this event for the 17th time.
The choice of 750 participants is no coincidence: the number symbolizes the special anniversary of our city. “The New Year’s dive is a wonderful way to celebrate the strength, diversity, and resilience of Amsterdam,” says Tom Moos, owner of Saints & Stars. “We’re proud to contribute to the festivities surrounding 750 years of Amsterdam.”
The event promises not only a refreshing experience but also a unifying moment for the community. Participants will gather at 2:00 PM at Sloterstrand, where they will receive a special blue hat and prepare with breathing exercises and an energetic warm-up. To make it fully accessible, participation is free — all you need is courage!
