Open-air opera at metro station Kraaiennest

10 June 2024

Let yourself be carried away by the story of an injured goose in "ON-GANS," a captivating urban opera set at Kraaiennest Metro Station. Experience the magic on Saturday, June 29, with performances at 5:00 PM and 6:30 PM. Admission is free!

Classical singer and violinist Mattanja van den Bos wrote an opera based on an event she experienced in the city last year with her young son. It’s a contemporary urban story with new classical music.

The Performance

Using the story of an injured goose, the opera tells a current urban tale with new classical music. The characters represent different generations of Amsterdammers: a mother and child, a young man, a fifty-something, an elderly lady with a walker, and a tourist. The opera is sung in Dutch and English. The music is acoustic, featuring instruments and unamplified opera singing outdoors. Everyone is welcome to come and enjoy the show for free.

The opera “ON-GANS” is part of the Amsterdam 750 program through Stichting Amsterdam 750.
