PAN celebrates Amsterdam 750!

The art fair PAN Amsterdam at the RAI will dedicate two days to Amsterdam 750 this year. On November 25 and 26, the PAN Podium will focus on the rich history and future of Amsterdam as a cultural capital, with talks and presentations.

The Imagined Ideals of a Trading City

For Amsterdam’s 750th anniversary, historian Onno Warns, Hermine Pool (Senior Curator at Ons’ Lieve Heer op Solder), and Melle van Maanen (Curator at Museum Het Schip) will discuss key themes of our city. They will talk about freedom of belief and conscience in a city full of cultures and religions. They will also explore the ideals of the Amsterdam School, a distinctive architectural style. Why are these things so central to Amsterdam?

Amsterdam City Archives | Al die Amsterdamse mensen

Between 1970 and 1990, Amsterdam underwent rapid change. Well-known photographers captured many significant moments, and these photos have been preserved in the City Archives’ photo collection through annual assignments. Sophie Tates, Head of Presentations, will talk about the exhibition Al die Amsterdamse mensen.

Amsterdam Time Machine & The Rembrandt House | Exploring Rembrandt’s Time with the Amsterdam Time Machine

Epco Runia from the Rembrandt House Museum and Boudewijn Koopmans from the University of Amsterdam will guide you through the hidden stories in museum collections and archives. They will share fascinating stories from collections and show how digital techniques, such as 3D visuals and data connections, bring the time of Rembrandt to life.

Oude Kerk Amsterdam | When Doubt Turns into Destiny

Director Mariette Dölle will speak with artist Navid Nuur about his exhibition When Doubt Turns into Destiny and the project NN XXX. Navid Nuur is creating a series of one hundred city vases in and around the Oude Kerk, made from raw materials and minerals sourced from different parts of Amsterdam.
