Tonight, the kickoff for Amsterdam 750 was celebrated at the festive Ziggo Dome! The concert was also broadcast live on NPO2 and AT5, allowing everyone to enjoy this special evening.
The legendary Metropole Orchestra opened the evening with a beautiful instrumental version of “Aan de Amsterdamse grachten,” literally and figuratively putting Amsterdam in the spotlight.
What followed was a whirlwind of performances by artists such as André Hazes, Sef, René Froger, Huub van der Lubbe, Jeangu Macrooy, Donnie, S10, Sophie Straat, ISH Dance Collective, Trijntje Oosterhuis, ZO! Gospel Choir, Sophie Straat, Berget Lewis, Edsilia Rombley, Billy Dans, the National Ballet, Gershwin Bonevacia, Amsterdam Andalusian Orchestra, Niki Jacobs, Rayen Panday, Chamber Choir PA’dam, and MocroManiac. Thanks to the visual creations of Gaiia Studio, each performance came to life in a spectacular setting. Adding a comedic touch were Van der Laan and Woe, who humorously summarized the history of Amsterdam 750 in just one minute.
As a spectacular finale to the evening, Joost van Bellen and Bella got the audience moving one last time.
Sietse Bakker, program director of Amsterdam 750: “I am incredibly proud of producer Making Waves, the Metropole Orchestra, ZO! Gospel Choir, ISH Dance Collective, Gaiia Studio, and all the artists and crew behind the scenes for what they have created tonight. You rarely see so much talent and energy come together on one stage. We couldn’t have wished for a better kickoff to the year.”
Did you miss it? No worries! The Opening Concert for Amsterdam 750 can be watched again on NPO Start.
